On 12-14 August 2022, Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the Kurultaj - tribal assembly of Hun-Turkic nations that was held in Bugac, Hungary. The event was organized by Hungarian-Turan Foundation headed by eminent scientist Mr. András Zsolt Bíró.
Prior to the event, on 11 August, Mr. Sándor Lezsák, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly received the representatives of Turkic nations at the Parliament. The Seventh Great Kurultaj kicked off with the grand opening ceremony at the Parliament with the speech of Mr. Sándor Lezsák. Secretary General M. Süreyya Er also delivered a speech in the opening ceremony.
On the same day, Secretary General had bilateral meeting with Mr. Lezsák. The parties discussed the current and upcoming activities, and interaction between TURKPA and Hungarian National Assembly.
The main part of the Kurultaj took place in Bugac. Representatives of Turkic peoples, international organizations, diplomatic corps and academic circles, as well as other officials participated in the gathering. Secretary General made a speech in the opening of the Kurultaj in Bugac.
The Kurultaj attended by László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, Sándor Lezsák, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan, President of the World Ethnosport Federation, Azamat Zhamankulov, Minister of Culture, Sports and Information of Kyrgyzystan, Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Sultanbai Raev, Secretary General of TURKSOY, Darkhan Kydyrali, President of the Turkic Academy and Avazjon Karimov, Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Mr. Er attended the Forum titled “Hungary and East” that was organised within the frame of the Kurultaj. In his speech during the Forum, Secretary General highlighted the significance of cooperation between Hungary and Turkic states necessitated by historical and cultural commonalities and noted the role of the Assembly in the strengthening of interaction.
At the end of the Forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between TURKPA and Hungarian-Turan Foundation.
