Staff members took part at the Seventh IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians
On 28-29 April 2021, TURKPA staff members Suzanna Kazimova and Azar Mammadov took part at the Seventh IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians on “Post-COVID-19 recovery: A youth-responsive approach” held in an online format.
The opening session was chaired by Ms. Cynthia Iliana Lopez Castro, parliamentarian from Mexico and member of the Board of the IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians and addressed by Mr. Duarte Pacheco, IPU President and Mr. Melvin Bouva, member of Parliament of Suriname and President of the Board of the IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians. More than 300 participants from over 80 countries, including parliamentarians, representatives of international organisations, various institutions and experts took part at the sessions of the two-day event titled “Youth participation: A sine qua non for youth-responsive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic”, “Supporting higher and university education: A priority of the recovery agenda”, “Healthy youth beyond the pandemic” and “Economic empowerment: Transforming the challenge into an opportunity”.
The Conference focused on issues such as promoting youth participation in shaping youth-responsive recovery, preserving and fulfilling fundamental youth rights, youth empowerment across the pandemic recovery efforts, youth employment.
