TURKPA International Observers Mission has arrived in Nur-Sultan to conduct a short-term monitoring of the early presidential election to be held on 9 June 2019. The Mission led by Mr. İsmet Uçma, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT), Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, is comprised of members of parliaments from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey, as well as diplomatic staff of the TURKPA Secretariat.
On 7 June, members of the Mission met with Mr. Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mr. Konstantin Petrov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meetings, Mission’s interlocutors stressed the significance of the observation of elections by parliamentary dimension of Turkic cooperation in terms of providing fair, democratic and transparent election. CEC Deputy Chairman informed the observers on measures taken on preparation for the election, particularly, logistical and technical matters.
Head of Mission Mr. Uçma expressed his gratitude for the conditions provided for observation mission and his confidence that the elections would be held in fair, free and transparent manner in favor of Kazakhstan.
On the same day, observers had meetings with Mr. Bakytzhan Abdiraim, Chief of headquarter of the “Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Mr. Azat Peruashev, Leader of “Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan” and the party's candidate Ms. Daniya Yespayeva, as well as Mr. Farkhad Kuanganov, Secretary of the “Nur Otan Party” on 8 June. The officials of the political parties briefed the observers on the electoral platforms and basic aspects of their parties’ policies.
On the Election Day, the Mission will monitor election in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and Turkistan. The statement on assessment of the election process will be presented on 10th June, during the press conference to be held by TURKPA International Observers Mission.
