TURKPA Mission met with Chairman of CEC of Kazakhstan

On 17 November 2022, TURKPA Election Observation Mission has arrived in Astana to conduct short-term monitoring of the early presidential election to be held in Kazakhstan on 20 November 2022. The EOM headed by Erol Kaya, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, member of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, is composed of the parliamentarians of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye, as well as the representatives of the TURKPA Secretariat.

On 17 November, the Mission met with Mr. Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Chairman of the CEC informed the TURKPA observers about the ongoing preparations, the work done by election administration bodies in this context and peculiarities of the early presidential election. Mr. Abdirov also briefed on the main stages of the electoral campaign, and replied to the questions of the Mission members.

The Mission wished success to CEC in preparation process and holding fair, free and transparent election.

Within its observation program, the Mission will hold meetings with officials and representatives of candidates and observe the voting process in Astana and Almaty cities on the election day. The Mission will present statement on the preliminary outcomes of its observation at the press conference to be held on 21 November.
