Commission on Economic Cooperation held its Eleventh Meeting

On April 19, 2024, Bishkek hosted the Eleventh Meeting of the Commission on Economic Cooperation under the theme “Trade missions of TURKPA member states: strengthening the national economy and contributing to joint economic cooperation” organized by the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting was chaired (in online format) by Anas Bakkozhaev, Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Commission Anas Bakkozhaev and other members of the Commission – members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aghalar Valiyev and Fazil Mustafa, member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Bekenov (in online format), Vice-Chair of the Commission, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Cholpon Sultanbekova, members of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mahmut Rıdvan Nazırlı and Harun Özgür Yıldızlı and Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er delivered speeches. Following the speeches, the members of the Commission discussed the agenda items and exchanged views on the main theme of the meeting.

The Commission conducted discussion and approved the report and recommendations on the main theme, as well as the draft model laws “On trade missions” and “On the basics of safety and quality of products, put into circulation” elaborated within the framework of the Commission and to be submitted to the Thirteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA to take place on June 6, 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuanysh Yelikbayev made a report to present at the Commission meeting the draft Model Law “On the basics of safety and quality of products, put into circulation”, which will systematize the standards and terminology of Turkic countries, initiated at the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana.

The Commission decided to hold its next meeting in Türkiye in 2025 on the main theme “Energy security as a factor of economic sustainable development” and within the framework of the Commission’s work plan for 2025, in addition to the Model Law set out in the Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028, to develop draft Model Law “On digitalization of transport, borders, and customs procedures”.
