Early Presidential Election in the Republic of Kazakhstan

TURKPA International Observers Mission monitored the early presidential election in Kazakhstan held on 9 June 2019. The mission included parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and diplomatic staff of the TURKPA Secretariat.

The observers had the opportunity to monitor the voting process at all stages. TURKPA mission visited polling stations in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and Turkistan conducting for the first time election observation in different locations within the country.

The observers monitored vote cast, conversed with the voters and polling officials. They also observed vote count and tabulation of votes in several polling stations.

According to the preliminary information of the Central Election Commission nearly 77,4% of voters took an active part in the election and 69,94% of voters cast their votes for Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Prior to the election day, the mission had meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission and representatives of the political parties. The day after the election, the mission will give a press conference conveying its assessment of the election process.
