Presentation of memorial complex and inscription of Ilterish Kutlug Khagan was held in Baku

On 4 October 2022, Deputy Secretary General Nooruzbek Arstanbekov took part in the presentation ceremony of a memorial complex and inscription dedicated to Ilterish Khagan, the founder of the second Göktürk Khaganate.

The event was organized by Ministry of Science and Education and Baku State University on the initiative of the International Turkic Academy.

The opening ceremony was addressed by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University, Isa Habibbayli, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Anar Rzayev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, Ganira Pashayeva, member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Javanshir Feyziyev, member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Fuzuli Majidli, Acting President of the International Turkic Academy and Afat Giblaliyeva, representative of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

In the course of the event, participants were informed in detail about archaeological findings.

The memorial complex and inscription that is believed to belong to Göktürk ruler Ilterish Khagan were discovered during the scientific excavations jointly conducted by the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Archeology Institute in the Ötüken region of Mongolia.

The next presentation will be held on December 15 in France at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
