TURKPA attended International Symposium on Turkic cooperation and Silk Road

Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the International Symposium organized by International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation (ITCHF) and International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) on November 8, 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The International Symposium was organized under the theme “Expanding the horizons of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye: the Silk Road – Serial Transnational UNESCO Nominations” on the sidelines of the Summit of Organization of Turkic States.

Symposium brought together national coordinators and international experts who have been involved in Silk Road Serial Transnational Nominations, as well as representatives of UNESCO. They considered issues of enhancing cooperation among the Central Asian states in the process of preparing and promoting the Serial Transnational Nominations along the Silk Road.

In his opening speech, Secretary General stated that the Silk Road has an important place in the history of TURKPA member states and huge projects have been realized in this direction. He noted that the implementation of major projects and other transport developments in the region by the member states show how the states are willing to take full advantage of their transport and transit potentials within the framework of the Silk Road.

During the Symposium, there was a presentation of the book “Azerbaijan on the Silk Road”, published within the framework of the project of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation “Countries of the Turkic World on the Silk Road”.
