TURKPA Mission met with representatives of political parties contesting elections in Türkiye

TURKPA Election Observation Mission has arrived in Ankara to conduct the short-term monitoring of the presidential election and parliamentary general elections to be held on 14 May 2023 in the Republic of Türkiye. The Mission headed by Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Committee of Healthcare of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection is composed of the parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the representatives of the TURKPA Secretariat.

The Mission commenced its work in Türkiye on 12 May 2023 and held meetings with the representatives of the political parties contesting the elections. During these meetings, interlocutors of the Mission – Deputy Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Mevlüt Karakaya, Deputy Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Tekin Bingöl, Deputy Group Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) Mustafa Elitaş and representative of the “İYİ Parti” Ayhan Altıntaş informed the Mission on their views about the pre-electoral environment and expectations from the 14 May elections.

The Mission wished success in holding fair and transparent elections.
