TURKPA attended the event of International Turkic Academy

On 15 December 2022, TURKPA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the International Forum "Turkic Civilization and Global Culture: The Inscription of Elterish Qutlug Qaghan”, organized by the International Turkic Academy, in cooperation with the National Commissions of the member states for UNESCO, and with support of the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris within the framework of the "Day of Turkic Languages".

The two-day forum brought together permanent representatives to UNESCO and ambassadors of member states and Mongolia, heads and representatives of Turkic Cooperation Organizations and other institutions such as CICA, IRCICA, Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps, academic circles and well-known scientists.

Speakers of the Forum stressed the importance of the archaelogical findings believed to belong to Elterish Qutlug Qaghan as a great scientific development in the field of Turcology.

In his speech, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er congratulated once again his counterpart Shahin Mustafayev on the appointment as the President of the International Turkic Academy and wished success in future activities. Secretary General noted the importance of contributions of the Turkic World to the civilization and in this context, emphasized that study, preserving and promoting the Turkic historical and cultural heritage in the world is the duty of the current generation and imperative of time.

The forum featured two panel sessions titled "The Written Culture of the Turkic Civilization: Elterish Qutlug-Qaghan" and "Turkic Languages in the Global World: Issues of Preservation and Development".

An exhibition of photographs on archaeological excavations in Nomgon valley was also organized in the framework of the event.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er met with the CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybai. Mr. Sarybai presented Mehmet Süreyya Er the Anniversary Citation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of CICA.

At the end of the event a cultural program was organized by ITA.

The program included visits to the house of Mustafa Shokay, the Kazakh social and political activist and ideologue of the Turkistan Autonomy, as well as Graveyard of Alimardan Bay Topchubashov, the prominent Azerbaijani politician, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
