On 17 March 2023, TURKPA Election Observation Mission commenced its work in Astana and Almaty cities of Kazakhstan.
Members of the Mission met with Chairman of the Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurtore Zhussip.
During the meeting, Mr. Zhussip offered condolences over the loss of lives in the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. Head of Mission, member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Recep Şeker expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Kazakhstan for their support in the trying times after the earthquakes.
Informing the Mission on the implementation of the legislative reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Mr. Zhussip noted the early elections to the Mazhilis of Parliament and maslikhats as logical continuation of these reforms. He briefed the Mission on the recent amendments to the electoral legislation.
Members of the Mission emphasized the role and contribution of Kazakhstan in the cooperation processes within the framework of the Assembly and wished success in conducting of the upcoming elections.
