Ninth Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation

On 20 May 2022, the Ninth Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation (CEC) entitled “Post-Pandemic Economy: States’ Support of SME’s” hosted by the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Nur-Sultan.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov, Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The discussion was focused on the study of the experience of the member states concerning the measures implemented to support the small and medium business during pandemic and post-pandemic period.

The Commission adopted the approved Report and Recommendations on the theme presented by Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, member of the Commission and Mr. Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov, Chairman of the Commission, respectively. The documents will be submitted to the Eleventh Plenary Session to be held on 23-24 June in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic. The Commission also adopted the themes of its meetings and titles of the model laws to be elaborated within the Commission for the upcoming five years. It was decided to hold the Tenth Meeting of the Commission in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Members of the Commission had a meeting with the Deputy Chairperson of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mrs. Balaim Kesebaeva. Deputy Speaker noted that collaboration within the TURKPA builds up a new architecture of rapprochement of the Turkic World. Members of the Commission extended gratitude for kind hospitality and wished success in holding the upcoming nationwide referendum on Constitutional changes to take place on 5 June 2022 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects of development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and the role of parliaments in this context.
