Graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law and received his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in the field of Public Law from Marmara University.

At Marmara University started academic career. In 1993 was Faculty of Law as research assistant. After completing his Ph.D. in 2002, became Associate Professor in 2005 and Professor in 2011. In addition to Marmara University, gave undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in various universities.

In Marmara University assumed several administrative responsibilities. Beginning from university years, functioned as a writer and/or editor in various journals and was a member of editorial boards of many academic journals and editor of refereed journals.

Chairman of Istanbul Branch of Economic and Social Research Center (ESAM).

At the 4th and 5th Party Congresses was elected as the member of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Central Decision-Making and Administrative Committee (CDAC). From 2012 to 2015 was elected as the Deputy Chairman of AK Party.

In the 24th and 25th legislative terms was elected member of Parliament from Istanbul. At the Reconciliation Committee on Constitution served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Constitution and represented AK Party. In the 27th legislative term also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop was elected as the 29th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) on February 24, 2019 and reelected for his second term on July 7, 2020. Fluent speaker in English and Arabic.
