IPA CIS 54th Plenary Session took place in Samarkand

Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the 54th Plenary Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) took place on 28 October 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Parliamentary delegations of the IPA CIS member countries, as well as representatives of various international organizations took part at the Plenary Session.

The main topic of the Plenary Session was "Legislative support of electoral processes in the CIS states”. The agenda covered adoption of 40 model laws prepared by IPA CIS permanent Commissions.

Secretary General of IPA CIS Dmitry Kobitsky informed on the plans for model legislation in the Commonwealth for 2023–2025.

The participants reviewed a number of model documents on various electoral topics. In addition, parliamentarians considered the documents related to security, economic development, state building, education, culture, information and other important areas.

The 54th Plenary Session ended with the presentation of awards and was followed by a press conference of the members of IPA CIS Council.

On the margins of the Session, Secretary General met with the heads of the parliamentary delegations of Turkic states, as well as other dignitaries.
