Secretary General visited Kyrgyz Embassy in Baku

TURKPA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er and the Deputies Secretary General visited the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the day of national mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic declared by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov. Armed clashes that took place on 14-17 September 2022 at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border resulted in the death of 59 people and wounded from among the Kyrgyz citizens and damaged infrastructure.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Assembly to the norms and principles of international law and settlement of contradictions peacefully by political and diplomatic means, through dialogue and negotiations, Secretary General expressed the support of TURKPA to the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic for a peaceful resolution of border tensions between the two states. TURKPA recalls the inadmissibility of violence and of the aggression with the use of weapons against civilians and civil infrastructure, and the importance of the dialogue for strengthening mutual trust, as well as sustainable peace and stability in the region. Secretary General also stressed the significance of mutual support among Turkic peoples and brotherly countries.

Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Kyrgyz Republic Kairat Osmonaliev briefed the TURKPA delegation on the ongoing situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and measures taken by the Kyrgyz Government and officials on settlement of the situation in peaceful manner.

Secretary General left a note in the book of condolence at the Embassy, extended condolences to the families of those died during the border clashes and wished fast recovery of the injured.
