25th anniversary of the Turkish National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan

On 12-13 November 2022, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the program devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Turkish National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan which was held in Tashkent.

Members of the delegation headed by Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye Mr. Yalçın Topçu visited Uzbekistan to participate in the festive events as guests.

As part of the first day of the anniversary program, on 12 November 2022, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument of the Shomakhmudov family, who sheltered 15 orphans of different nationalities during the Great Patriotic War. The monument symbolizes friendship, nobility and tolerance of the people of Uzbekistan.

The ceremony followed by an international scientific-practical conference on "A new era of Uzbek-Turkish cultural and humanitarian cooperation and development prospects" was organized at the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi.

The conference was attended by the leadership and officials of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Cooperation with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, guests from the Republic of Türkiye, teachers and students of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, employees of the Applied Ethnology laboratory, activists of national cultural centers and other higher educational institutions.

Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Cooperation with Foreign Countries Mr. Rustam Kurbanov, Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye Mr. Yalçın Topçu, Chairman of the Turkish National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan Mr. Ömer Salman and others made congratulatory speeches. Reports of invited guests were heard. As noted at the conference, interethnic harmony and tolerance are an integral part of the spirituality and culture of the Uzbek people. Opinions were also expressed on the role of the Turks in the development of the country.

In the second half of the day, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Cooperation with Foreign Countries held a meeting with members of the Turkish delegation.

On 13 November 2022, within the framework of the cultural program, there were organized visits to the Peoples' Friendship Square and Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, as well as a Gala Concert was held for the participants of the event.
