February 28, 2023

On 28 February 2023, TURKPA Secretariat staff participated in the online 5th briefing on Forced Labor and Human Trafficking organized within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s capacity-building activities for young parliamentarians.

Participants of the briefing were young parliamentarians, staff of parliaments, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and academic circles.

The objective of the 5th briefing was to raise global awareness about human trafficking, since young people are frequent victims of this problem. During the briefing, experts shared their reports and presentations on the nature of human trafficking, its categories, and real-life cases. Presentations were followed by discussions among young parliamentarians, where they shared national practices on the elimination of forced labor and human trafficking.

In 2019, TURKPA established its Young Parliamentarians Group to contribute to national policies on youth-related issues. The Group, through its activities, aims to promote youth participation in the parliaments and in the work of the Assembly and contribute to the achieving general goals of TURKPA.
