Commission on Economic Cooperation held its Tenth Meeting

On 20 April 2023, Tenth meeting of the Commission on Economic Cooperation under the theme “Integration of the trade and economic potential of the TURKPA member countries: the future transport carcass in the new reality” organized by the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in online format.

The meeting was chaired by Anas Bakkozhaev, acting Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Members of the Commission discussed the agenda items and exchanged views on the main theme of the meeting.

Stressing the importance of increasing the effectiveness of the promotion of transport and logistics in the TURKPA region, the participants noted the role that the member parliaments could play in integration of the trade and economic potential of the member countries for ensuring activities of this important element of sustainable growth and economic development. Asset Asavbayev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, and Gaidar Abdikerimov, Secretary General of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” as specially invited guests delivered speeches on the topic of the Commission meeting.

The Commission conducted discussion and approved the report and recommendations on the main item, as well as the draft Model law “On Digital Financial Assets”, elaborated within the framework of the Commission, to be submitted to the Twelfth Plenary Session of TURKPA to take place on April 28, 2023 in Ankara, Türkiye.

The Commission decided to hold its next meeting in Kyrgyzstan in 2024 and within the framework of the Commission’s work plan for 2024, in addition to the Model Law set out in the Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028, to develop draft Model Law “On the basics of safety and quality of products, put into circulation”.
