TURKPA attended PABSEC 60th Plenary Session

On 8-9 December 2022, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er took part in the 60th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in the capacity of observer, hosted by National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade.

The Plenary Session brought together parliamentary delegations of the PABSEC member countries, as well as observer and guest delegations.

The Opening Ceremony was addressed by Mr. Vladimir Orlic, PABSEC President, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, First Vice-Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Policy and Security, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.

Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er delivered a speech during the Session on the theme “The role of parliaments and inter-parliamentary cooperation in stimulation economic growth in the Wider Black Sea region”.

The agenda items included adoption of the reports and recommendations of the PABSEC committees, as well as presentation of information on the activities of the BSEC, its related bodies and sectoral dialogue partners.

At the end of the Plenary Session, the PABSEC Presidency was passed to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. Mr. Vladimir Orlic, PABSEC President, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, addressed the closing ceremony and handed over the PABSEC Presidency to Mr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

Speaker of Turkish Parliament delivered a speech and invited all the participants to the next PABSEC General Assembly, to be held in Türkiye in May 2023. Mr. Şentop handed over the PABSEC Medal of Honour to Mr. Orlic for his contribution to the activity of the PABSEC.
