Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection held its Eighth Meeting

The Eighth Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection hosted by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan took place on 6 March 2023 in Baku and attended by the parliamentarians and experts from the member states.

The main item of the meeting’s agenda was "Protection of Biodiversity in TURKPA Member States".

Ali Huseynli, First Deputy Chair of Milli Majlis, took part in the event and delivered a welcome speech. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission, Recep Şeker, Vice-Chairman of the Commission and member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er, other members of the Commission and experts made speeches during the event.

The meeting was chaired by Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his speech, Mr. Amiraslanov stressed the importance of cooperation and improvement of legislation in the field of protection of biodiversity and ecosystems among the member states.

He emphasized the necessity to protect the rich biodiversity of the member states and to benefit from the achievements of science with minimal risk by improving relevant legislative framework.

The Commission approved the report, recommendations and the draft Model Law “On Protection of Reproductive Health” presented accordingly by Recep Şeker, Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission and Adil Valiyev, Head of the Social Legislation Department of the Milli Majlis. The documents will be submitted to the Twelfth Plenary Session of TURKPA to take place in April 2023 in Türkiye.

The Commission decided to held its next meeting in 2024 in Kazakhstan.
