On 12-13 October 2022, Deputy Secretary General Talgat Aduov attended the Sixth Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of CICA.

The Summit brought together high-level delegations led by the 11 heads of member states and governments, ministers, ambassadors, as well as representatives of international organizations.

Agenda of Summit featured the transformation of CICA into a full-fledged regional international organization, the establishment of the Fund of CICA, as well as the admission of Kuwait as a member of the Organization and other issues. During the Summit Turkmenistan joined the CICA as an observer.

The participants discussed the issues on strengthening cooperation through the development of multilateral approaches to ensuring peace and security in Asia.

Considering the historical and key role of Kazakhstan in the creation of the CICA, the proposal of the Kazakh side to continue the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the CICA for 2022-2024 was supported.

TURKPA has observer status at the CICA since 2012.
