The 3rd meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs took place on 28 April 2014 in Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nurlan Abdirov, Vice-Chairman of the Commission and member of Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. Members of the Commission touched upon the issue of developing TURKPA’s legal framework and discussed possibilities to further revise and improve the main statutory documents of the Assembly. In this context, Commission’s meeting was preceded by the consultations of experts from the member countries in order to conduct exchange of views and deliberations on the issue.Commission adopted a recommendation to the upcoming Fifth Plenary Session of TURKPA to instruct Secretariat to prepare comprehensive report on the issue.

Alongside, participants discussed the issue of restructuring TURKPA permanent commissions and members of the Commissionapproved recommendation on restructuring commissions that will be considered by the Assembly at the Fifth Plenary Session in June.

The main item of the meeting’s agenda was the activities of the TURKPA member countries on legislative harmonization and relevant report and recommendation were approved by the Commission.

It has been decided that the next 4th meeting of the Commission will be held in Kyrgyzstan in the second half of 2014.
