Seventh Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection

The Seventh Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection hosted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye took place on 11 May 2022 in Ankara and attended by the parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. The main item of the meeting’s agenda was "Harmonization of Health Systems in TURKPA Member States".

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his opening speech, Mr. Amiraslanov stressed the importance of the issue for the member states. Chairman noted that TURKPA member states intended to develop and strengthen health cooperation on the basis of equality and reciprocity, mutual benefit and in accordance with the legislation of their countries. He emphasized that, in this context, it was crucial for the Commission to examine the current situation on the matter, analyze existing gaps in the legislation, and share positive experience and best practices among the member states.

Parliamentarians discussed potential for cooperation among the member states on health systems and stressed the necessity elaborating mechanisms over such issues.

The Commission approved the report and recommendations presented accordingly by Mr. Recep Şeker, Deputy Chairman of the Commission and member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission. The documents will be submitted to the Eleventh Plenary Session of TURKPA to take place on 23-24 June 2022 in the Kyrgyz Republic.
