Secretary General took part in conference dedicated to 10th anniversary of Nakhchivan agreement
On 3 October 2019, Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov attended the conference titled "Turkic Council: the 10th Anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement" organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) in Baku.
Representatives of Turkic cooperation organizations and think tanks of the member states, as well as Uzbekistan and Hungary participated in the conference. Following the opening speeches by Mr. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the AIR Center, Mr. Gismat Gozalov, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council and Mr. Ramiz Hasanov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the conference continued its work with panel sessions.
In his speech, Secretary General extended congratulations on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Nakhchivan agreement and assessed it as the historical momentum for Turkic-speaking countries. Mentioning the Turkic Council as a key actor of regional cooperation based on shared values and principles that include voluntariness, consensus, solidarity and transparency, Mr. Mamaiusupov noted that recently Uzbekistan had also ratified the Nakhchivan agreement and expressed his hope that Parliament of Uzbekistan would join TURKPA in near future. Secretary General emphasized that establishment of TURKPA was another milestone of the institutionalization of Turkic cooperation and informed on the activities of the organization.
