On 20 September 2018, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic and TURKPA Chairman-in-Office Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov paid a visit to the TURKPA Secretariat. The Chairman was accompanied by the members of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan parliamentary friendship groups of both countries and diplomatic representatives of Kyrgyzstan in Baku.
The Speaker were welcomed by the TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov and Deputy Secretaries General Mr. Fuad Alakbarov, Mr. Nauryz Aidarov and Mr. Ali Yildiz.
The visit of a dignitary included exposure to the Secretariat’s building and library, as well as participation in a tree-planting ceremony at the Secretariat’s inner courtyard.
The Chairman Dzhumabekov conducted a short meeting with participation of Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz parliamentarians, Secretary General and his deputies. During that meeting, the Chairman talked on the prospects of Turkic cooperation and untapped potential of this cooperation that needs to be efficiently developed.
In the course of the meeting, Secretary General informed the head of the Kyrgyz Parliament about TURKPA’s current and future activities, including also preparations for the upcoming Eighth Plenary Session of TURKPA to take place in Turkey in November marking also TURKPA’s 10th anniversary.
After the meeting, Mr. Chairman gave an interview to the Azerbaijani mass media.
