TURKPA observers presented its statement on presidential elections in Azerbaijan

The TURKPA International Observation Mission gave the press conference on the outcomes of its monitoring of the Early Presidential Elections in Azerbaijan. Mr. Haluk Ipek, Head of the Mission and member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, informed the media representatives that TURKPA observers visited polling stations not only in the capital city Baku, but also in Sumgait, a third largest city of Azerbaijan, and Khirdalan located in Absheron Election Constituency.

The Mission had an opportunity to observe the casting of votes, to talk to polling stations’ officials and voters, and also to hold meetings with the heads of local executive bodies of Sumgait and Khirdalan cities. The observers were provided with detailed information as regards measures on preparations for elections.

Mr. Ipek mentioned that the Mission did not observe any serious violations in election administration and, moreover, relevant bodies were well-resourced and professionally prepared for conduct of elections.

The Mission concluded that the early presidential elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan of 11 April 2018 were held in compliance with the national legislation of Azerbaijan and international election standards.
