The Second Meeting of the Secretaries General of the Member Parliaments of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) with participation of the Secretaries General of the inter-parliamentary organisations having an observer status in the PABSEC took place on 6 March 2018 in Istanbul. The meeting's main topic was "25th Anniversary of the PABSEC: Challenges and Expectations for Future Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation".
TURKPA Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov took part in the meeting and made a speech on the prospective fields of cooperation between TURKPA and PABSEC within the framework of TURKPA's observer status in the PABSEC. In his speech, Mr. Mamaiusupov touched upon the issue of practical cooperation between the two Assemblies, having emphasized the fact that both the Black Sea region and the Turkic-speaking countries occupy an essential part of the ancient Silk Road. Secretary General also underlined the importance of developing a dialogue between the parliamentarians and business communities in order to intensify economic relationships amongst the countries of the region.
