Secretary General held meeting with Turkish Ambassador
On 15 January 2018, Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Azerbaijan Mr. Erkan Özoral.
Secretary General briefed Turkish Ambassador about current and future activities of the Assembly and also pointed out the outcomes of the last 7th Plenary Session in Bishkek. Mr. Mamaiusupov particularly emphasized the role of Turkey in the development of Turkic cooperation and appreciated support of related institutions of Turkey to the TURKPA’s activities. Secretary General also underlined the need to advance practical and result-oriented cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries.
Both sides noted the importance of 2018, as this year is marked by a number of remarkable dates, such 10th anniversary of TURKPA, 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, 80th anniversary of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic and 90th anniversary of a prominent writer and thinker of the Turkic world Chingiz Aitmatov. Secretary General said that TURKPA is ready to contribute to the organization of the events be dedicated to the mentioned anniversaries. Mr. Özoral expressed a full support of Turkey to the TURKPA’s activities in this direction and talked about the necessity of close interaction among the Turkic cooperation institutions.
