H.E. Mr. Mustafa ŞENTOP
Mustafa Şentop was born in Tekirdağ on 6 August 1968. He graduated from Faculty of Law of İstanbul University. He received his master's and doctorate degrees in Public Law from Marmara University.
In 1993, he started to work as a research assistant at the Faculty of Law of Marmara University. He became a doctor in 2002, an associate professor in 2005 and a professor in 2011. In addition to Marmara University, he taught undergraduate and postgraduate level courses at various universities. He held various administrative positions at Marmara University. Since he was a student, he wrote, managed and edited various journals. He was a member of editorial board, editor and referee of academic journals. He served as the President of Istanbul branch of Economic and Social Research Center (ESAM). He was elected as Member of the Central Decision-Making and Administrative Committee (CDAC) of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) at the 4th and 5th Ordinary Congresses and served as Vice Chairman of the party between 2012-2015.
He was elected as the Deputy of İstanbul at the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th parliamentary terms. He served as Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Constitution of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He has represented AK Party at the Constitutional Reconciliation Commission at the 24th parliamentary term. He served as the Chairperson of the Committee on Constitution at the 26th parliamentary term. He served as the Vice-Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey at the 27th parliamentary term.
Mustafa Şentop is elected as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 24 February 2019.
Mr. Mustafa Şentop is fluent in English and Arabic. He is married and has 4 children.
