Meeting of legal experts held in Baku

The first meeting of the experts on improvement of the legal basis of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries was held on 19 September 2014 in the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan. The experts from the member countries conducted exchange of views and consultations on current state of the TURKPA’s legal framework.

The parties discussed the ways of development of the Assembly’s status and improvement of its statutory documents. The national experts agreed to consider proposals regarding deliberations on the amendments to the Nakhchivan Agreement on the Establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, as a core document laid down the institutionalization of the Turkic cooperation at the inter-state level, as well as to start a work on preparation of the new Financial Rules and amendments to the Regulations of the TURKPA Secretariat.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of proposals to be presented for approval by the member parliaments.
